Health and Social Care

The BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care is an exciting and challenging course which introduces students to key aspects of the health and social care sector.

These include:

  • Human Lifespan Development - this explores human growth and development from birth to death as well as life events experienced across the life stages.
  • Health and Social Care Services and Values - this explores the different professionals that work in this sector and how they empower service users and promote independence as well as barriers that people might face when trying to access services.
  • Health and Wellbeing -  this explores a variety of factors that affect individuals health and wellbeing from genetic conditions to substance abuse to stress as well as key health indicators used to assess individuals.

Assessment:

Component 1: Human Lifespan Development – internal assessment (coursework)

Component 2: Health and Social Care Services and Values – internal assessment (coursework)

Component 3: Health and Wellbeing – external assessment (a task marked by the exam board)
