Cat Lane Canter raises £2,700 for school enrichment

We are thrilled to share the success of this year’s Cat Lane Canter, a much-loved local trail race organised by the PTAs of Newfield School, Meersbrook Bank Primary and Carfield Primary.

This year’s event raised an incredible £2,700 to support enrichment activities across all three schools—including sports equipment, trips and Duke of Edinburgh resources.

With more than 200 runners taking part, including a record number of under-18s, the day was a true celebration of community spirit. Many Newfield pupils took part—and swept the top three spots in the 5K race! Congratulations to Amos H (Y10), Louie W (Y10), and Denny F (Y8), as well as Maya M (Y7), who was the fastest U13 girl.

A huge thank you goes to the many volunteers and supporters who helped make the day such a success—from marshals and tea-makers to the 74th Scouts, who kept everyone fuelled with bacon butties!

Next year’s Cat Lane Canter will take place on Saturday 25 April 2026. We hope to see even more of our community there.
